May 27 – Women in Black invite you to march with them in Meadville Memorial Day Parade, Women in Black has have made a long term commitment to march in Meadville’s Memorial Day Parade every year. They march in silence. All are welcome to join the contingent, please wear black. Gathering time is between 8:30 and 9:30 am.

Oh, how I wish every American would sit down and listen to the testimony given by this young Yemeni in the Senate on April 23, 2013. In just six minutes he breaks hearts and opens minds in a way I have not yet seen before as regards the drone wars. The video of his testimony has already gone viral.

Kathy Kelly recently returned from a 12th trip to Afghanistan where she spent a month as a guest of the Afghan Peace Volunteers in a working class neighborhood of Kabul. She and her colleagues lived alongside ordinary people in areas afflicted by U.S. wars and weapons, learning from them and helping raise their voices on behalf of ending wars.

Again this year, in conjuction with Catholic social worker Ann Marie Zon, members of the Dunkirk-Fredonia Peace and Justice Center will organize the collection of items to help the poor in Nicaragua.
Non-perishable food, household items, clothes and footwear suitable for warm weather, school supplies, toys (not toy guns), and linens will be welcome. (Please do not send computer related items, books or games written in English, clothes hangers, or curtain rods.)
